Description

As Managing Partner, you'll sit at the top of YCC's leadership, setting the organisation's direction, coordinating department heads, and ensuring every team is working towards the same goals. From leading the Senior Leadership Team and chairing board meetings, to driving continuous improvement across projects and client services, no two terms are the same. You'll represent YCC externally, maintain relationships with alumni, faculty, and clients, and champion the development of every member in the organisation. This role demands exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, drive and communication, and offers unmatched experience in running a real, impact-driven organisation.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Strategy

  • Set the overarching vision for YCC, ensuring all strategy and activity aligns with long term goals and impact
  • Set and uphold the organisational culture, ensuring it aligns with YCC’s values and fosters a supportive, high performing environment
  • Set and uphold expectations around professionalism, conduct and performance across the organisation
  • Set the long term direction for YCC’s marketing, external engagement and brand positioning
  • Oversee the overall marketing and engagement strategy
  • Drive innovation in outreach and marketing approaches to continuously grow YCC’s presence
  • Lead bi-weekly Directors’ meetings to drive performance, accountability and continuous improvement across the entire committee
  • Chair termly strategy meetings focused on YCC’s long-term development and positioning
  • Identify and implement strategy improvements to ensure YCC evolves and delivers an enhanced experience year on year
  • Ensure YCC operates cohesively, coordinating departments so YCC delivers greater impact as a whole
  • Ensure the professional and personal development of YCC members
  • Ensure all work is delivered to a consistently high standard
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication across all departments and members
  • Oversee succession planning and deliver a comprehensive handover to the incoming committee, ensuring continuity of strategy, processes and organisational knowledge
  • Hold Directors and committee members accountable for performance, ensuring high standards are maintained across all areas
  • Make final strategic decisions in the best interest of YCC, balancing stakeholder input with long term priorities
  • Oversee the recruitment strategy and pipeline, ensuring a high quality and diverse intake

Organisational Oversight and Performance

  • Maintain oversight of all projects, processes, and outputs to ensure work is delivered to a consistently high standard
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively and ensure accountability across the committee
  • Oversee the effective coordination of the Projects Team to ensure successful project delivery
  • Review all processes, procedures and projects, implementing improvements based on feedback and insights
  • Ensure effective delivery of recruitment, selection and onboarding processes through oversight of HR department
  • Act as the final escalation point for complex or sensitive people related matters, ensuring issues are handled fairly, consistently and in line with YCC policies
  • Ensure the training programme effectively supports member development
  • Drive the collection and application of feedback to measure progress against goals and continuously improve performance
  • Champion diversity and inclusivity within YCC, ensuring a broad mix of academic disciplines, year groups and perspectives across the organisation
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of resources across projects and departments to maintain quality and manage workload effectively
  • Oversee the management of YCC’s finances, ensuring funds are handled securely, responsibly and in line with organisational needs
  • Maintain oversight of data protection, security and GDPR compliance, ensuring risks are effectively managed and processes align with organisational requirements - working with the Director of HR and Director of Technology where appropriate
  • Provide oversight and where necessary, final approval on formal people related decisions, including dismissals, ensuring alignment with YCC policies
  • Ensure resilience and continuity by identifying and mitigating risks across all areas of YCC

Client, Mentor and Project Experience

  • Oversee the onboarding of new clients, including the development of Terms of Reference and Client Agreements to ensure clear scope and expectations
  • Ensure YCC delivers meaningful impact for clients, maintaining a balance between educational value for members and value for clients
  • Ensure accurate and up to date management of client information and project documentation within our website
  • Maintain visibility across projects by engaging with PMs and teams at key stages, including attending training sessions where relevant and conducting periodic project check ins
  • Maintain oversight of client relationships, regularly checking in to ensure alignment with expectations and overall satisfaction through project delivery
  • Oversee the client-PM transition to ensure a seamless onboarding process and strong foundations for each project
  • Foster strong engagement with mentors, ensuring their feedback is actively gathered and integrated to enhance project quality
  • Ensure high quality client outcomes, including the collection and review of post project feedback
  • Ensure a strong and balanced client pipeline for each term, working across a mix of charities, start-ups, public sector organisations and larger companies

External Relations and Growth

  • Engage with the Board, organising board meetings and providing termly updates on progress, projects and strategic developments
  • Maintain and develop relationships with YCC Alumni and University faculty, to enrich the organisation's relationship with its wider network
  • Oversee the delivery of events that enrich members’ experience and provide insights into the consulting industry and its transferable skills
  • Ensure YCC continues to grow its external presence and reputation within the university and wider community
  • Safeguard and enhance YCC’s external reputation, ensuring all activity reflects YCC’s values, professionalism and impact
  • Ensure effective promotion of opportunities and vacancies through appropriate channels, supporting strong application numbers and engagement
