About the Client
The student-led York Student Cinema (YSC), delivers classic movie block-busters, thought-provoking documentaries to students, members of the public, and University of York Staff. YSC uses the Christie CP2000 digital projector to deliver cinema at budget-friendly prices, and also has ambitions to use a 35mm projector. The society's contributions and value have been consistently recognised over the years through numerous collaborations and prestigious awards. Namely, the Cinema was the recipient of BFFS Student Society of the Year in 2004, YUSU’s Society of the Year 2014, and they have collaborated with KPMG.
Objectives
- Conduct comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research to assess the cinematic expectations of students and the public, including trends in attendance preferences and barriers to engagement.
- Develop a detailed target profile identifying the characteristics of those most likely to engage with YSC.
- Research and review marketing strategies employed by similar student cinema organisations to identify best practices and competitive positioning opportunities.
- Create targeted marketing recommendations covering optimal channels, compelling messaging content, and effective timing strategies to increase engagement from students and the general public.
