About the Client
Older Citizens Advocacy York (OCAY) is an independent, York-based charity which provides free advocacy services to people over 50 in the local area. They offer support with employment, benefits, housing, transport and more. With a small group of highly active volunteers, OCAY helps individuals to express their views, make informed decisions about public services, and have their voices heard.
Objectives
- Research and examine OCAY's current volunteering system and volunteer recruitment practices, by identifying the target demographic of volunteers and identifying potential obstacles to volunteer retention.
- Conduct competitor analysis on other local charities' recruitment and retention strategies.
- Analyse and review surveys taken by students to gauge their views on volunteering and their availability to do so.
- Develop appropriate long-term strategies to enhance volunteer staff recruitment and retention.
Project Outcomes
- Diversification of funding models, including the improvement of non-grant income streams.
- Incorporation of market data to strengthen OCAY's funding narrative.
- Improvement of Instagram usage and volunteer engagement.
- Redesign of OCAY's website.
